Summit Vacation Concierge's Breckenridge Blog
January 23rd, 2008 If you're headed to Breckenridge this week, be sure you check out the Budweiser International Snowsculpture Championships. Artists from around the world have converged on the town to transform massive blocks of snow into some of the most amazing works of art you'll ever see. Located in the Riverwalk Center in the heart of downtown Breck, you'll find 12 foot tall blocks of snow being shaped by teams from as far away as China. On January 26th, a panel of artits will award the top three teams based on their use of theme, style and technique. Winners for People's Choice, Kid's Choice and Artist's Choice will also be announced.
January 12th,2008 Greetings from snowy Breckenridge, Colorado. While January is normally a fairly "dry" month by Rocky Mountain snowfall standards, this month has been punctuated by frequent storms and powder days. The mountain's base is in great shape, with nearly 100% of Breckenridge's terrain open as of today. Only the Snow White chutes have yet to open, although they should be coming online once ski patrol finishes up their avalanche control in that area. If you're still waiting to book your ski vacation this year, now is the time to get out to Breckenridge for powder turns!
December 22nd, 2007 Happy Holidays from Summit Vacation Concierge! The skiing and riding in Breckenridge has been incredible since our last update. Peaks 7 and 10 opened last week, expanding the mountain's terrain offering to 2010 acres! Breckenridge is now 85% open with 7" of fresh snow reported on the slopes this morning. Look for the remaining 15% (our high alpine bowls) to open up in days to come as we've been receiving regular doses of fresh snowfall. December 7th, 2007 Peak 8 is open! With 14" of snow in the last 48 hours and nearly 3 feet this week alone, Breckenridge has opened its legendary Peak 8. This morning saw the BreckConnect Gondola firing up as the ski area expanded its terrain offering to 740 acres. Yesterday, Breckenridge opened new terrain throughout the day, including expert terrain on the north side of Peak 9. I was there when the roped dropped and found bottomless snow in the Mine Shaft. Everyone on the mountain was hooting and hollering as they ripped through the untouched powder. With another 7" of snow last night and nearly all of Peak 8 opening today, it should be another phenomenal day of skiing and riding in Breckenridge!
BRECK - It's where the snow's at!
Lots of fresh snow on Peak 9 this morning. This was the view from the Beaver Run SuperChair. December 2nd, 2007 The Breckenridge Ski Resort had its best powder day of the year today with 11 inches of fresh snow reported at mid-mountain this morning. I headed up for first chair at 8:30 to find plenty of fresh snow on the hill and some new terrain being opened on Peak 9. This storm has provided us with the "push" we needed to open up much more of the mountain. The riding was awesome on runs such as Peerless and Volunteer that had not been open prior to today. Runs that had already been opened were groomed and in top form with plenty of soft, girppy snow for some high speed turns. Rumor has it that Peak 8 should be open by next weekend. As always, pray for snow!
With as much snow as we've been getting, it's probably a good time to put the cruiser away for the winter.

It's a powder day! This morning the Breckenridge Ski Resort reported that 9" of fresh snow fell on its slopes overnight - the first official powder day of the 2007-2008 ski season. With another strong looking storm forecasted for the weekend, we're looking forward to all sorts of new terrain opening up in the days to come. Check out our live mountain webcams to view images of fresh powder in Breckenridge. Last night's snow will also pave the way for our snowmobile, dog sled and sleigh ride outfitters to begin offering activities. Be sure to check out some of the great non-ski activities Breckenridge has to offer when you visit this season. November 21st, 2007 Snow! It seems as though the end has come to the mild winter/fall we've been experiencing in Breckenridge. This morning we woke up to 4-6" of fresh snow on the ground in town and perhaps a bit more on the mountain. I headed up for some early morning turns and made a few laps before the bulk of the crowd came out. The snow was soft and grippy, not too bad for riding in November. Cold temperatures and low dewpoints are making way for around the clock snowmaking operations, so we'll be looking forward to lots of new terrain opening up soon. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Breckenridge is officially open for the 2007-2008 ski season! We headed up for some early season turns this morning and enjoyed some of the pancakes and coffee that the ski area was handing out to everyone in attendance. The lift line was surprisingly short for opening day, which allowed for quick laps on the Beaver Run SuperChair. The snow was in great shape and the park crew had even put together a few rails and terrain features to play around on. I was having too much fun riding to remember to shoot any photos, but promise to have some new ones up in the days to come. We’re looking forward to a great season here in Breckenridge and rooms are booking quickly. If you’re planning to visit this winter, give us a ring soon so you don’t miss out!
