Breckenridge is home to two unique ice skating venues, offering the perfect opportunity to spend an afternoon gliding through a winter wonderland.  Why not grab a thermos full of steamy hot chocolate and bring your friends and family along to one Breckenridge’s outstanding skating facilities?

Maggie Pond 

Maggie Pond Maggie Pond is located in The Village at Breckenridge base area and offers an outdoor ice skating experience the entire family is sure to enjoy.  Situated along the Blue River, the pond was created when the historic Gold Pan mining pit was abandoned by the Oro Grande Placer mining company.  This Breckenridge ice rink offers the quintessential winter skating experience, with stunning views of the Breckenridge Ski Resort and Bald Mountain all around you.    

The Maggie Pond ice rink is open until 10:00 pm daily.  Skate rentals are available on-site through Breckenridge Sports.  Guests are encouraged to call ahead, as Maggie Pond can occasionally be closed as a result of significant snowstorms or inclement weather.  For more information on Maggie Pond ice skating hours and pricing, contact Breckenridge Sports at the Maggie.  970.547.5726.    

Stephen C. West Ice Arena

The Stephen C. West Ice Arena, owned and operated by the town of Breckenridge, is home to 2 NHL-sized skating surfaces.  The indoor ice arena is open year-round and offers a lobby, full service pro shop, skate rentals, locker rooms, meeting rooms, a referee room, a family changing room, bleacher seating for 475 people and a concession stand.  The town of Breckenridge’s outdoor ice rink is a covered facility open from mid-September through mid-April and features an indoor warming facility as well as locker rooms.    

Public Skating is offered for all ages and abilities.  Skate rentals are available in figure skates as well as hockey skates in sizes Youth 11 through Adult 12.  For young, first time skaters the ice rink offers skating aids to enhance stability.  Helmets and hockey sticks are also available for rental.  Public skating sessions are held daily.
