Imperial Express Superchair

The Highest Chairlift in North America

In the winter of 2005, the Breckenridge Ski Resort debuted the Imperial Express SuperChair, the highest chairlift in North America.  Reaching an elevation of 12,840 feet, the Imperial Express reaches within 100 vertical feet of Breckenridge's renowned Peak 8 summit.  From here, advanced skiers and riders can access to over 400 acres of black, double black and extreme terrain, previously accessible by a 45 minute hike.

“As the highest chairlift in North America, accessing some of Breckenridge’s most amazing intermediate and expert terrain, this lift is the crowning touch on an already fabulous resort,” said Roger McCarthy, chief operating officer for Breckenridge Ski Resort.  The Imperial Express SuperChair serves a trend toward increased backcountry use by many skiers and riders, by allowing those with little or no backcountry experience a controlled option to seek out adventure on the mountain.

From the top of the lift, advanced and expert level skiers and riders can challenge themselves in Art’s Bowl, Peak 7 Bowl, North Bowl, Whale’s Tail and the resort’s in-bounds extreme terrain known as the Lake Chutes.  Advanced-intermediates can ski Imperial Bowl, located directly beneath the lift.  New this year will be the addition of Snow White, 150 new acres of steep, above timberline chutes located just beyond the Lake Chutes.

To access the Imperial Express SuperChair at Breckenridge Ski Resort:
